Things to do in Lindon & Provo, Utah

Lindon is located 45 minutes south of Salt Lake City. Nestled below beautiful Mount Timpanogos, it’s an attractive destination for residents and businesses alike. Lindon is rich in outdoor recreation opportunities with multiple parks and amenities located along a growing network of biking/walking trails and was even honored in 2009, 2011, and 2013 when CNN Money Magazine ranked Lindon within the 100 Best Small Cities to Live In America.

Lindon has an abundant cultural and historical background! Originally settled in 1861, Lindon began as pioneers moved into what was then the Lindon grazing land. The town was originally named String Town because of the way the houses were strung up and down the street. An old linden tree (Tilia) growing in town in 1901 inspired the present (misspelled) name. Over the past century Lindon has seen organized development, but it has tried to remain true to its motto: Lindon: a little bit of country.

Provo is the third-largest city in Utah, located about 43 miles south of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front. It’s the largest city in Utah County and it’s located between Orem to the north and Springville to the south.

Every July, Provo hosts America’s Freedom Festival, which includes the Stadium of Fire at BYU. It is held in LaVell Edwards Stadium, home to the Brigham Young University football team. The Independence Day festivities are very popular among local residents and have featured numerous artists, including Bob Hope, Reba McEntire, the Blue Man Group, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, David Archuleta, The Beach Boys, Scott McCreery, Kelly Clarkson, and Cirque Du Soleil, among many others.
