We realize you may want to learn more about Mercedes-Benz on your own time so we created this resource with just some of the great things that make the brand #1.
Everything from vehicles’ performance and design to their acoustics (including what you do and don’t hear), and much more, is unique to Mercedes-Benz, and is what millions of customers (both around the globe and throughout the decades) cherish about their Mercedes-Benz.
Some might argue that a great automobile eliminates noise altogether.
But at the same time we’re inventing new ways to shield you from unwelcome sounds, we’re also fine-tuning every auditory aspect of our vehicles so that you can hear what makes them extraordinary–from their distinctive exhaust notes to the solid and reassuring thump of a closed Mercedes-Benz door.
The words “a Mercedes-Benz should always look like a Mercedes-Benz” still fuel our creative fire. But what we achieve goes far beyond appearances.
Together with some of the world’s best automotive engineers, our team of industrial, textile, graphic and interface designers devote themselves to the craft of automobile making.
And what we produce are vehicles that not only look, but feel, and sound like nothing else on the road.
Although Mercedes-Benz designs have consistently proved ahead of their time, our vehicles are often described as timeless. And that’s not surprising.
While the considerations that go into a Mercedes-Benz interior are countless, the goal is quite singular: When you first step inside and close the door, you should feel at home.
To that end, we painstakingly craft even the smallest detail to create an atmosphere that gives you a sense of confidence and well-being.
A Mercedes-Benz Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) gives you a choice in fuels whenever you pull up to the pump.
You can use gasoline or, without a single adjustment to the car, fill it up with E85 Ethanol, a widely available fuel that’s 15% gasoline and 85% ethyl alcohol (ethanol).
Derived from corn and other grains, ethanol is a locally produced, renewable resource that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70%.
At Mercedes-Benz, we’re not interested in building cars that are merely powerful or fast.
Instead, we choose to engineer automobiles that combine the many facets of performance to create something extraordinary: sensations that can’t be expressed in horsepower and torque.
Because to us, cars aren’t just machines. And what they make us feel can’t be measured.
Even more than its meticulous engineering, Mercedes-Benz is defined by its continuous innovation. Since inventing the car in 1886, we’ve simply never stopped reinventing it.
In 1886, Carl Benz is awarded German patent number 37435 for a three-wheeled, self-propelled “Motorwagen.” With a rear-mounted single-cylinder engine, the first automobile forever changes the way people move, and sparks a legacy of innovation that continues to this day.
Before Carl Benz could invent the automobile, he first had to imagine the future. More than 125 years later, things haven’t changed at Mercedes-Benz.
Whether it’s developing ideas for upcoming vehicles or presenting a vision for a possible tomorrow, we’re always imagining how the future will look
From a menacing winter storm to a challenging corner, 4MATIC all-wheel drive makes the most of available traction by precisely engaging all four wheels.
More than letting all four tires do the work equally, 4MATIC® features a number of advanced, and quick-thinking innovations to empower each wheel individually as conditions change.
For well over half a century, Mercedes-Benz engineers have been devoted to preparing for a moment they hope never occurs.
From the invention of the crumple zone to countless innovations in occupant protection and accident avoidance, the safety firsts of Mercedes-Benz often set a standard that all automobiles eventually follow.
